French Immersion

F.H. Collins is the only high school in Whitehorse to offer a French Immersion program, for students whose first language is not necessarily French. Immersed in the French language, students can continue to improve their language skills. The school offers Français Langue 8 to 12, as well as numerous other classes, such as Mathématiques, Sciences Naturelles, and Sciences Humaines, which are taught in French. In French Immersion, students learn more than just the basics : they gain a more in-depth understanding of the French culture. As well, the hours spent speaking French in their classes allow them to comfortably apply the language to situations outside of the class. For more information, students or parents should speak to a guidance counselor.
