Principal's Message
Welcome back everyone! I hope that you had a restful and relaxing holiday, and are back in the swing of things at school. As of the day that I am writing this, we are one week away from the beginning of semester 2. Students in grades 10-12 will continue to work in models of blended learning that involve work being completed for half of the day in school, and the other half outside of school. As a reminder, students with the last name M-Z are in the morning session in semester 2, and students with the last name A-L are in the afternoon group.
There are some exciting support initiatives that FH Collins will be putting in place for students in semester 2. We recently received funding to implement a tutoring program, as well as a literacy and numeracy intervention program. These initiatives are due to increased staffing that we received from the Department of Education.
Now, more than ever, we need to continue to follow the health and safety guidelines for schools provided by the Chief Medical Officer of Health. This includes practicing the Safe Six, and wearing masks when in public spaces in the school. We are having some issues with students not wearing masks when they are working at the tables above the atrium. It is essential that students wear masks when they are working at these tables.
Be safe.
Sincerely,
Jay Thomas, principal
