Music
ProgramOur music courses help students develop a keen interest in playing an instrument, advanced technical ability, and an appreciation for the joys of ensemble playing. Within the school timetable, we offer courses in concert band, jazz band, and beginner guitar. Outside of the timetable, we are proud to be part of the All-City Band Society, which gives students the opportunity to play in a large Woodwind or Jazz ensemble alongside students from other schools as well as adult musicians from the community. For details about our courses (including All-City Band courses) see the FHC coursebook. |
PrerequisitesAll students are welcome to participate in music classes, regardless of previous experience. If you are new to music at FHC, you should arrange a meeting with the instructor to determine which course(s) are most suited to your interest and level of commitment.
CostStudents either provide their own instrument or rent from the Department of Education for the cost of $100/year.
FH Collins Secondary is committed to making all of its programs accessible to all students. If cost is a barrier for you, please contact the instructor and financial support can be made possible. PerformancesAll students participate in a minimum of three performances throughout each course.
