Sport School
Program descriptionThe FHC Sport School program is a half-day program designed to help you become a more well-rounded athlete, student, and community leader.
As a Sport School student, you will improve your overall athletic ability, focusing on functional strength patterns such as general body control, physical literacy development, joint stability and mobility, flexibility and improved core strength. You will learn how to train explosively and safely, with a large emphasis on the anaerobic energy systems developed via Olympic lifting patterns. You will also participate in weekly gymnastics sessions and specialized sprint training.
Our classroom In addition to physical activities, Sport School also teaches the theory behind athletic performance. You will learn about topics related to the basics of exercise program design, sport psychology, nutrition, hydration, stress management, the importance of recovery, and more.
Students make video records of their skills to track progress and identify areas for improvement. Students enrolled in the FHC Sport School program are also expected to demonstrate leadership in their community: Sport School students will be responsible for leading various school activities throughout the year and are required to complete mandatory volunteer hours outside of class time.
TestimonialsMy physical and mental health has skyrocketed and has been a key part in keeping me on track to becoming my best self. I have seen tremendous growth in health, mood, self-esteem, and most notably, athleticism. I’ve changed my sleeping, eating, and overall discipline ... I am forever thankful to have been given this opportunity. |
How to applyPrint off the application form and follow the instructions. Applications for the 2025-2026 school year must be submitted to Charlie Feht by Wednesday, Jan 8, 2025. Note: the application process involves writing an essay and seeking letters of reference. Make sure to get started on it well before the due date to avoid disappointment. What credits will I get?Grade 10-12 students take the Sport School program together in the same class, and every student is on an individualized learning plan designed in collaboration with a school counsellor.
