Covid News

Over April and May, health officials have monitored COVID-19 cases in the territory. Through this monitoring, the Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health (OCMOH) has found we are at a stage in the pandemic where mandatory masks in schools are no longer required.
Starting on Tuesday, May 24, mask use in all areas of schools and on school buses will be optional for students and staff.
While this is an encouraging step to returning to life before the pandemic, all students, staff and families should continue to use caution and take steps to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in schools and our communities.

- Practice the safe six: make sure you continue to wash your hands regularly, physically distance where possible and stay home when you are sick.
- Mask use: students and staff can choose to use masks as another layer of protection.
- Outdoor and on-the-land learning: as the weather gets nicer, schools are taking their learning outdoors. Outdoor and on-the-land learning opportunities are a great way to provide valuable learning while also reducing the spread of COVID-19. We encourage students and staff to take their learning, recess and lunch breaks to the outdoors.
- Get vaccinated: We continue to recommend that all eligible students get vaccinated as another valuable layer of protection.

Principal's Message

Happy Spring!
How quickly the last 3 months have passed for me, since becoming principal here! The days are lengthening, the students are showing some signs of “spring fever,” and our staff are engaging in many extra-curricular activities for students, within covid guidelines.
As covid guidelines within the territory continue to evolve, the required safety measures in schools also continue to be impacted. We always post the most recent guidelines and expectations on our website as soon as we are able. Currently, masks are still required to be worn in schools.
We are in the process of updating and revising our Student Code of Conduct. This process will involve gathering input from students, staff, families, school council and school partnership organizations. We will keep you informed of how to offer input as we move through this process.
Thank you for sharing your students with us; we strive to make FH Collins the best place to learn and work. Wishing you a safe and enjoyable Spring.
